Chin Augumentation
in Tucson, AZ
The chin is in
Chin augmentation refers to any procedure which enhances the chin, making it more prominent to achieve a well-balanced facial profile. When a chin is small or recessed it can make the entire face look off balance or out of proportion. At our Tucson cosmetic surgery office, Dr. Lo offers both surgical and non-surgical chin augmentation rejuvenation options to both men and women. Surgical chin augmentation uses chin implants to add more definition to the chin profile to dramatically improve a recessed chin or rounded face. Dermal fillers offer a non-surgical chin augmentation treatment option and can add volume to a small chin and contour the jawline without any surgery. During your consultation, Dr. Lo can discuss which chin augmentation option is best for you.
Why Choose Chin Augmentation?
Emphasis on the chin has gained in popularity as it has become more common to treat the lower face to achieve all over facial balancing. The chin is an understated feature but truly acts as the foundation of our face. A weak chin can make the nose appear larger than it actually is, make the lips look out of proportion, or make the lower face appear more aged. A small chin can be a result of age-related volume loss, or it can be genetic. An under-defined silhouette can negatively affect a personβs self-esteem but sculpting the jawline into a more balanced contour helps create a harmonious and proportioned natural look that will enhance your appearance and self-confidence.
The Chin Augmentation Surgical Procedure
Dr. Lo will carefully evaluate each patient. The best candidate will be in good physical and mental health, have realistic expectations of the chin augmentation procedure, understand all risks involved, and be willing to follow pre- and post-operative instructions.
All our procedures are performed at our in-office surgical suite giving patients a relaxed and confidential surgical experience. Chin augmentation procedures can be done with local anesthesia or patients may select light sedation if they prefer. At your consultation, Dr. Lo will discuss which chin implant he recommends for your facial structure and aesthetic goals. During the chin augmentation procedure, Dr. Lo makes small incisions under the chin so the implant can gently be inserted. The incisions under the chin are carefully made to minimize the appearance of any scarring. Dr. Lo inserts the pre-selected chin implant and fits it securely around the existing bone ensuring it is firmly in position, he then closes the incision.
What to Expect After Chin Augmentation Surgery
After your chin augmentation procedure, the area may feel tight, swollen, and tender in the mouth area. Youβll be expected to rest with your head elevated and relax the first few days post-surgery to let your body heal. You may experience bruising in the lower face and neck which can last for up 3-weeks, with no strenuous activity or exercise for 2-weeks. Most patients feel comfortable returning to daily activities with the first 5-7 days and returning to work within 1-2 weeks depending on comfort level. Avoid making any big facial movements for 2-weeks, and do not apply any kind of pressure to the area for 2-months or as directed by Dr. Lo. Recovery can take up to six months or more depending on your natural healing process. Dr. Lo is committed to your successful recovery and is there for you throughout your cosmetic journey and at your scheduled follow up appointments. Chin Augmentation procedure results can last a lifetime for most patients and the longevity of your rejuvenation results can be maintained with non-invasive aesthetic treatments at our Med Spa.
Non-Surgical
Chin Augmentation
There are several non-surgical dermal filler treatment options for chin augmentation offered at Dr. Loβs practice. Dermal fillers allow you to sculpt and contour the chin and jawline without surgery. With just a few quick injections, patients can experience facial balancing results immediately with little to no downtime. Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane Defyne and Juvederm Voluma have received FDA approval for chin augmentation and are preferred for this area of the face due to the composition and mobility of the filler product. Dermal fillers typically last about a year and do not offer a permanent treatment solution, but they can be a good choice for patients who may want to try out the look of a chin augmentation before undergoing the chin implant procedure.
