Neck Lift

Candidates for a neck lift are those with sagging skin around the neck and along the jawline. A small incision is made in front of the earlobe, to the lower scalp behind the ear. The neck muscles, from the chin to the collarbone, are then surgically drawn together at the midline, giving new support to the entire neck and jaw, while the skin is tightened. The incision is concealed in the natural contours of the face. Recovery time is approximately 1-2 weeks.

Fat Augmentation

This minimally invasive procedure transfers a small amount of the body’s fat to areas of the neck that have lost volume. Injecting fat creates a natural look. Swelling and bruising may last for up to 2 weeks. The results of fat augmentation often last for years.

This minimally invasive procedure uses radio frequency energy to heat deep tissues on the face to stimulate collagen production. The ThermiTight probe is placed under the skin, and is threaded to all the areas under the chin and neck, heating the tissue and promoting collagen production. Because it takes the body time to build collagen, results are not seen for about 4-8 months. Although there is no incision, some swelling may occur, lasting for 2-4 days. Only one ThermiTight treatment is usually needed and the results last 3-4 years depending on the patient’s skin. However, the natural aging process may require future treatments.

Facial contours can be restored with a minimally invasive InstaLift. Suture threads are inserted under the skin, requiring only a small puncture, and threaded along a marked line where the lifting is needed. The threads have small cones that, once implanted, hold the skin in place, supporting it against future sagging. This procedure is excellent for gentle lifting of the cheeks, jowls, and neckline. Recovery time for an InstaLift is 3-5 days.

Laser Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is a procedure which can be highly effective in softening wrinkles and pigmentation on the neck. Pulses of light remove thin layers of damaged skin, while stimulating collagen production in the skin beneath. The new collagen plumps and tightens the skin, filling in lines and wrinkles. The procedure takes between 30 minutes and 2 hours, using a topical anesthetic. New skin will cover the treated area in 1-2 weeks.

Kybella is an FDA-approved injection to help fat reduction under the chin and in the neck area. It involves small injections and the fat cells are destroyed. The procedure takes 15-20 minutes and downtime involves some 3-4 days of swelling in the neck area. Usually 2-5 sessions are needed to ahieve a good result.

Fraxel Repair

Laser can be done lightly on the neck to help improve pigmentation, texture, and some wrinkles. It usually requires multiple treatments as the neck skin does not heal the same as the face and the laser has to be done lightly to prevent scarring.

These are used in the neck area to help soften the bands under the neck which develop from aging of the neck. Patients like this technique as it helps delay a neck lift.

This non-surgical modality is excellent at tightening loose tissue under the chin if there is mild to moderate laxity to the neck skin. It requires 4-5 treatment sessions and then maintenance every 4-6 months depending on your skin.
