Restylane, Restylane-Fine lines and Perlane are classified as cosmetic fillers. Fillers are substances that are injected into the skin to plump up wrinkles and increase volume. Restylane and Perlane are commonly used to improve lines around the mouth, frown lines between the eyebrows, as well as to make the lips fuller. The results are immediate but not permanent. Restylane is an exciting new filler that was recently approved by the FDA. Restylane is made of hyaluronic acid, a substance which occurs naturally in our soft tissues. Restylane Fine lines and Perlane are also fillers with different applications. Restylane Fine lines is used mainly to fill in lines around the eyes while Perlane is used for deeper lines and for the shaping the face.
Procedure Description
Restylane is injected through a fine needle, with local anesthesia used to make the treatment more comfortable. Treatment takes just a few minutes. There is usually some swelling, which may last for up to 2 days. Restylane gradually wears off and retreatment is typically needed in 6 months.
Additional Information
Restylane is made from non animal sources so there is no chance of transmitting a disease. Additionally, no prior allergy testing is needed for Restylane unlike bovine collagen injections. Currently, only Restylane is FDA approved and available. Approval of its sister products is expected shortly. Come in for your consultation regarding how Restylane can help rejuvenate your face!
